wineanorak wine tasting number two
...friendly tastings run by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts

Spain
Wednesday 15th May, Central London

Following on from last month's successful Côte Rôtie tasting, you are invited to wineanorak tasting number 2. This will be a chance to taste a fascinating line-up of Spain's leading wines in a comparative setting. The tasting will be single-blind (that is, we'll know what wines are in the tasting, but not the order of pouring) and will include, among others:

  • Pesquera Reserva 1998
  • Pesquera Crianza 1999
  • Alvaro Palacios Les Terrasses 1999
  • Haciendo de Monasterio 1998
  • Alion 1997
  • Abadia Retuerta 1996
  • Finca Valpiedra 1996
  • Cvne Imperial Gran Reserva

Details:
Wednesday May 15th in the Committee Room at 41 Portland Place, London, W1B 1BN, 6.30 pm (map here)
£25 per ticket*; maximum 12 places, first-come first-served
Places can be reserved by sending a cheque made payable for £25 to wineanorak.com to: Jamie Goode, Wineanorak Tastings, 41 Portland Place, London W1B 1BN. If the tasting is full, we'll inform you (you can also check first by e-mail: jamie@wineanorak.com)

All are welcome: this will be an informal, round-table tasting where the emphasis will be on enjoying the wines as much as analysing them. I'm deliberately restricting the numbers so that we all get a substantial pour and also to facilitate discussion and general banter about the wines. Wine-friendly snacks (e.g. breads, cheeses) will be provided, as will basic ISO tasting glasses -- but feel free to bring your own glass (or glasses) if you'd prefer. The room we'll be meeting in is an 18th century Adams terrace in the heart of the west end of London, which is a lovely environment to drink wine in!

*The small print: In the unlikely event of this tasting being cancelled, your money will be refunded in full. If you have to cancel your place, your money will be refunded only if we manage to re-sell your ticket. In unusual circumstances it may be necessary to substitute one or more of the wines advertised; if this is the case rest assured that I will do my very best to make sure that the substitutes are of equal value and interest. Also, if you have wines that you feel would add to the interest of the tasting and would like to bring these in lieu of the ticket price, please discuss this with me and we'll try to work something out. The ticket price is intended to cover the cost of the wines, room hire and snacks; there's no profit element built in...
