UK importers Artina Wines

Formed in 1979 this is one of the leading Oregon producers in terms of volume. These estate-bottled wines all retail for less than £10 and, while they don't hit any real highs, represent reasonable value for money.

1999 Silvan Ridge Early Muscat
A semi-sparkling wine, this is fermented under pressure, fermentation is stopped at 6.5° alcohol and it is bottled under pressure to make it fizzy. It has a sweet grapey nose and has a semi-sweet, rounded palate. Great fun.

1999 Hinman Vineyards Pinot Gris
Pale coloured with a fresh, fruity nose: bright and a bit confected. Sweet fruit and a touch of spice on the palate. Rather simple but rounded wine. Good/very good

1998 Hinman Vineyards Pinot Noir
Sweet strawberry fruit dominates the nose; a little bit confected. The nicely balanced palate is very open and accessible, and there's a bit of tannin. With real up-front appeal, this is a fun, unashamedly new world Pinot. Very good

1997 Silvan Ridge Pinot Noir
Attractive spicy nose. Fruity, spicy palate with good balance. Attractive savoury wine; fruit-forward and impressive in a new world style. Very good
