Big in Sweden

I don't speak Swedish, but I am reliably informed by a couple of readers that Wine Science has been favourably reviewed in one of the main Swedish daily newspapers, Svenska Dagbladet.

Kind of humbling to think that my little book has found its way around the world. Makes up for the fact that every copy sold brings me a pitifully small sum. Not a way to get rich.

Greetings from a swedish reader who recently found your blog.

Indeed, I read your book a while ago and enjoyed it imensely. Hard to find good literature on wine, and even though I can enjoy to romantizising, it's nice to have someone who can remove the mysterious veil and tell you the "truth" as well.
My girlfriend borrowed the book a few days ago. Should have bought another copy. :)

Keep up the good work, I'll try and read the blog as often as I possibly can.

What makes Mr Alexandersson think Robert Parker lives in Boston?

Keep up the good work, Jamie. I read that piece when it was published, and though the author is a biochem doctor and unknown in (wider) Swedish wine circles, rest assured that you get a good deal of credit. I can't translate the entire piece for you, but in essence, you collect kudos for rising above the high-pitched/romantic/misinformed debate and staying firmly planted in scientific soil. I'll be sure to pick up a copy.

Cheers /anders, stockholm

(Btw, still high on last weekend's 1999 Mastroberardino Radici Riserva. Took five hours of decanting, but what a beauty. The fruit shines in spite of all that tannic power.)

Oh, and I should mention, just to save you from future misunderstandings, that it's not really a proper review of your book. It's more like this guy's two cents in the terroir debate, a lot of it based on your writing. With proper credit to your book.

I also read Swedish, and can assure you the book is favourably mentioned and relied upon throughout.

As to some of what is referred, such as the influence of context etc. - I wonder if that is only due to our weak sense of smell. I rather suspect it is a more widespread phoneomenon than that.
