Glaetzer Wallace 2002, Barossa
Very rich, bold and spicy with soft structure on the palate. Great balance and drinking well now. Very good+ 89/100 01/04

Glaetzer The Bishop Shiraz 1999 Barossa
Intense, rich, tarry nose with smooth ripe fruit showing spicy complexity. The palate is rich and spicy with some evolution. IT’s a big wine but not inelegant. Rich and stylish. Very good/excellent 90/100 01/04

Glaetzer Shiraz 1998 Barossa
From the Ebenezer district. Seamless nose of intense black fruits with some earthy, spicy undercurrents. Bold, rich spicy palate showing lots of fruit and well integrated oak. Softening out a bit with smooth tannins. Very good/excellent 91/100 01/04

Keith Tulloch Wines, Hunter Valley, NSW

Formerly a wine maker at Lindemans and Rothbury Estate, Keith now makes the wines for Evans Family Estate. Since 1997 he’s had his own label – the wines reviewed here.

Semillon 2003
Very ripe, open fruity nose. Lemony edge to the bright fruity palate. Very good+ 86/100

Semillon 2002
Minerally edge to the lemony fruit on the nose. Juicy, fresh, almost grassy palate. Very good+ 87/100

Chardonnay 2002
Pronounced nuttiness to the fresh, fruity, toasty nose. Smoky edge. Nice oak here with fresh, asssertive fruit and good acidity on the palate. Very good+ 89/100

Forres Blend 2000
A Bordeaux blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with a bit of Merlot and some Petit Verdot. Deep coloured. Intense savoury fruit with a nice spicy edge and good acidity. Quite a striking wine but it works very well. Very good+ 87/100

Kester Shiraz 2001
Intense, savoury, slightly medicinal nose. Very quirky. The palate is savoury and medicinal with a spicy character and vivid acidity. Very unusual, old-fashioned style, but I like it. Very good+ 87/100

Kester Shiraz 2000
Rounded, berrish old-fashioned nose. Lovely midweight palate with savoury, roasted berry fruit. Not particularly showy and quite old fashioned. Very good+ 87/100

Fox Gordon King Louis Cabernet 2002
Ripe black fruits nose. Lovely juicy ripe, rich palate with intense fruit and spicy, smooth tannins. Quite good structure. Very good/excellent 90/100

Eight Uncles Shiraz 2002
Lovely spicy density to the ripe, nicely poised fruit. Nicely poised. Good balance and a spicy finish. This is tasty, full flavoured warm, spicy Shiraz. Modern in style but has persnoality. Very good/excellent 90/100

Hannah’s Swing Shiraz 2002
Very deep coloured. Sweet, ripe, intense berry and black fruits nose. The palate is bold and rich with a good concentration of ripe fruit and spicy structure. Great concentration and good balance – a very tasty wine. Very good/excellent 91/100
