Pierro was established back in 1979 by Mike Peterkin, a
winemaking GP, who has since gone on to establish a solid reputation
for his Chardonnay (made in a Burgundian fashion and considered to be
one of the top examples in Australia) and Bordeaux-style blend
‘Cabernets’.
Pierro LTC 2001
This white is a blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Fresh
appealing nose showing vivid lemony character. Crisp, well judged
palate. Very good
Pierro Chardonnay 2000
Rich herby, toasty nose is quite intense. Distinctly herby fruit
on the palate with a toasty, nutty edge. Good concentration. Very
good+
Pierro Pinot Noir 2000
Pale, slightly muted colour. Sweet herby nose with an undergrowthy
edge. The palate shows sweet herbal, spicy fruit with a savoury
finish. Impressive restrained style. Very good+
Pierro Cabernets 1999
Very ripe sweet spicy nose. Palate of concentrated blackcurrant
fruit with a herbal edge. Almost opulent but showing some evolution
already. Very good+
