The
wines of Anselmo
Mendes, Vinho Verde, Portugal
Anselmo Mendes is one of the leading winemakers from
the Vinho Verde region in the north of Portugal. He’s based in the
Monção
sub region, famous for its Alvarinhos, and where he was born.
Before
starting his own production, he had a spell in the CVRVV, the local
body responsible for Vinho Verde, and also worked for Borges, where
he still consults. He made his first wine using his name in 1998,
but while his own wines have achieved critical acclaim, he’s also
a consultant with several well known producers throughout Portugal.
