Provence

Provence has a feel quite unlike anywhere else in France. Despite the fierce summer heat, the herb-scented hillsides have a peaceful and gentle quality to them. However, this is also the 'discovered' south of France, and once you get near the coast its hard to get away from the 'money' and the crowds. We didn't visit any wineries here, but instead had a relaxing few days spent with my parents who we met up with in Cavalaire. However, there are some producers, such as Domaines Richeaume and Trevallon, who are making first-rate wine here, a region also well known in times past for its contributions to the EEC wine lake.
