The wines of
Rudi
Pichler, Wachau, Austria
Austrian wines are on a bit of a roll at the moment. Wine
geeks in the USA and UK are waking up to just how good Riesling and Grüner
Veltliner from the three neighbouring regions of Wachau, Kremstal and
Kamptal can be.
Rudi Pichler isn’t yet one of the elite names on the
Austrian scene (the more famous Pichler is FX Pichler), but his wines
are increasingly impressive. This line-up of 2002s is of very high
quality. They’re available from Gauntley in the UK (4 High Street,
Exchange Arcade, Nottingham NG1 2ET, tel: 0115 911 0555, www.gauntleywine.com),
whose prices per case in bond are quoted.
