The UK's best wines
Results from the UKVA Awards 2003 

For your general interest, here are the results of the UK Vineyards Association awards in 2003. Three things to note. First the good performance of English fizz, with the UK's two best producers, Nyetimber and Ridgeview, garnering a bevy of medals. I've tasted a number of wines from both producers and been very impressed. Second, the impressive performance of New Wave Wines: four trophies and loads of medals. An extensive write up of their wines will appear on wineanorak in the near future, and without blowing the story I'll say here that I was quite impressed. They are currently leading the field. The third point is that scanning down this list, you begin to realise how extensive the wine industry is in the UK, with dozens of producers making wines of note, despite the rather damp, cool conditions. Now if only I could get the vines on my allotment to produce a decent crop...
