Decanter Fine Wine Encounter, November 2000
One of the most interesting consumer-tasting events in the wine calendar is the Decanter Fine Wine Encounter, held at the Landmark Hotel each November. The event manages to pull together a star-studded cast of producers from around the globe. It's usually not too overcrowded, and the tasting glasses are good-sized Riedels, not the usual tiny ISOs punters have to struggle with at most large tastings. The event is held over a weekend, and it is well worth getting tickets for both days, especially if you intend to take on of the 'masterclasses' -- there's simply too much to do in just one day.
Here, I'm presenting the tasting notes from the producers I focused on this year.
