Maori Point
Central Otago, New Zealand

Website: http://maoripoint.co.nz

Maori Point is the project of Dr John Harris and Dr Marilyn Duxson (above), research scientists who were based in Dunedin but who are now based on their vineyard at Tarras, half way between Cromwell and Wanaka. It's a 6.5 hectare north-facing vineyard on the banks of the Clutha river, and the first vines were planted in 2002. First vintage was 2006 and until 2013 the wines were made at VinPro; now they are made by Lucie Lawrence of Aurum. Winemaking is on site, which is relatively unusual for an operation of this size in Central Otago.
