Western Australia’s Margaret River wine region is the source of some amazing Cabernet Sauvignon-based wines, but it sometimes gets forgotten about. I was really impressed by this one.
Cherubino Pedestal Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 Australia
14.5% alcohol. I like the stripped down label based on font use: it reminds me a bit of California’s Ridge. Lovely blackcurrant fruit nose with some spicy warmth. Notes of blackcurrant bud and a hint of tar. The palate has good concentration with a spicy edge to the plump, rounded blackberry and blackcurrant fruit. This is ripe and sweet and enticing, but also has some structure and balance with the potential to develop.
