Nice to see this top Languedoc performing well with a bit of bottle age, and this back vintage is stocked in UK supermarket Tesco to boot. Current vintage is 2025 and has a blend of Bourboulenc, Grenache Blanc, Rolle and Roussanne. Retail in France is €12.90.
Château La Négly La Brise Marine Blanc 2021 La Clape, Languedoc, France
13.5% alcohol. Pleasantly surprised by this white blend of Roussanne, Bourboulenc and Clairette from La Clape in the Languedoc. It’s almost five years old, sealed with a synthetic (plastic) cork, but it’s really fresh and detailed. Harmonious citrus and pear fruit with some richer peachy notes, hemmed in by some nice spicy character and just a little structure. There’s a trace of saltiness on the finish, too. Lovely density and complexity here. 92/100 (£23 Tesco in the UK, also £18 at Quercus Wines)
