Highlights: Chavy-Chouet Bourgogne Les Femelottes 2018

This is an impressive wine from the newly-exciting Meursault-based Domaine Chavy Chouet. Femelottes is a 3 hectare parcel on clay/sand soils next to the village of Puligny-Montrachet, and these vines are over 40 years old. Fermenting and ageing is 10 months in barrel, of which 10% are new.

Domaine Chavy-Chouet Bourgogne Les Femelottes 2018 Bourgogne, France
12.5% alcohol. 40 year old vines on clay/sand soils. Full yellow colour. This has lovely concentration with powerful citrus and peach fruit, with some pithy notes. There’s some spice from the 10% new oak (presumably) and lovely sophistication to this wine, which packs in more flavour than you’d expect. Finishes taut and mineral. 92/100 (£16.99 Roberson Wine)
