Highlights: Christophe Cordier Viré Clessé Vieilles Vignes 2018 Bourgogne, France

I was really impressed by this white Burgundy. Domaine Cordier is run by Christophe Cordier, and he has a negociant operation under his name: this is one of the wines from this portfolio. It’s really impressive, and although it’s not cheap, it’s good value as far as white Burgundy is concerned. It would be a perfect wine for Christmas dinner.

13.5% alcohol. Fermented and aged in 300 litre oak barrels, 10% new. This is really bright and vivid, with good concentration of pear and white peach fruit with a brisk lemony finish. There’s some hazelnut and spice, too, from the oak, which is well integrated. Lovely intensity and concentration. Crystalline finish. Very classy, and brilliant value at this price. 93/100 (£16.99 Majestic, £14.99 mix six price here, but please note this is not a sponsored post!)
