Highlights: Stephane Ogier Les Temps est Venu 2018 Côtes du Rhône, France

Stephane Ogier Les Temps est Venu 2018 Côtes du Rhône, France
14.5% alcohol. Ogier is one of the best producers in the northern Rhône, and this is their venture down south. Mostly Grenache (60%) with the balance Syrah and Mourvèdre. Whole bunch ferment in concrete; concrete maturation. It’s a wonderfully vibrant wine with nice grippy, peppery black cherry and blackberry fruit. It is dense and grainy, but also has drinkability. This has a lovely dark savoury character to it that really reminds me of the northern Rhône, even though it’s from the south. A superb peppery, brambly Rhône red with lots of personality, some nice green notes, and a serious side, as well as a playful one. 92/100 (£13.48 Lay & Wheeler)
