Highlights: De Lille Cellars Chaleur Blanc 2018 Washington State, USA

DeLille Cellars is one of Washington State’s top wineries. I visited back in 2015 (see my report here). Today I tried the 2018 vintage of the Chaleur Blanc and was really impressed.

DeLille Cellars Chaleur Blanc 2018 Columbia Valley, Washington State
13.8% alcohol. This is a remarkable white Bordeaux style blend with 71% Sauvignon Blanc and 29% Semillon. Whole bunch pressed and fermented in 90% French oak barrels (60% new) and 10% stainless steel, with some wild ferment. It’s has distinct aromatics of mandarin, lemon and apricot with some smoky grapefruit notes, and also notes of hay and tarragon. The palate is richly textured with fruit sweetness, and a beautiful combination of richness and freshness, with a slight (appealing) bitter pithy hint on the finish, and good acidity. Thus is a very serious wine, and while delicious now, it should age well. 94/100
