Big fan of Burgaud’s Beaujolais wines. He’s based in Villie Morgon and makes quite sturdy, ageworthy bottles that also have finesse, and which are very affordable. This one is £14.50 at the Wine Society. Was around €30 on a wine list in the region.
Jean-Marc Burgaud Morgon Les Charmes 2020 Beaujolais, France
13% alcohol. This is focused and fresh with vibrant black cherry and blackberry fruit showing spice, charcoal and pepper, with some iodine. Nice tannic structure – almost Italian in style. Very pure and fine and ageworthy. 94/100
