Highlights: a natural Chinon from Patrick Corbineau of indeterminate age
Patrick Corbineau Chinon, Loire, France
This is a natural wine with no sulfites added. Doug Wregg brought it along for tasting on our podcast, but he doesn’t know the vintage. It’s not on the label or cork. Partrick, who recently passed, used to mark it on the bottles by pen. We think this one is quite old (1990s?) but it’s drinking beautifully. Fine and elegant and floral on the nose with some savoury notes of iodine and earth as well as supple red and black cherry fruit. There’s some spicy detail, too. It’s really harmonious with elegance as well as freshness, and even a bit of grip. Mature but lovely. This is why we cellar wine. 95/100
