Restaurants: Leela and the Palace Cafe, Wynn Palace, Macau

As well as some high-end Michelin-starred restaurants, Wynn Palace in Macau (where I was judging the Wynn Signature Chinese Wine Awards last week) also has some excellent more affordable options, and these two were exceptional.

First of all, Leela, which is an informal, walk-in Indian restaurant in the Gourmet Pavilion. It was so good I went there twice. The food was diverse and quite delicious, and we washed it down with Champagne Delamotte Brut NV which is very well priced there (the equivalent of GBP£60).

The highlight is the Hyderabadi bone marrow and lbeef cheek biryani. This is just so good (pictured above).

Saag paneer, really well done.

Lucknow takri chaat

Baked Chettinadu samosa with shredded duck leg and onion chutney

Smoked butter chicken

The second restaurant I want to highlight here is the Palace Cafe, which is located on the gaming floor and delivers amazing Sichuan, Hunan and Chongqing cuisine. I was with a good-sized group so we plundered the menu. The spicing is intense but brilliantly done, and this was one of the meals of the trip. So much flavour, and a lot of variety.
