Gallery: in the vineyards of the Ahr Valley, Germany

I arrived in the Ahr Valley this afternoon and took a walk around the vineyards. This is a Pinot Noir specialist region, and I think most of the grapes pictured here are Pinot Noir, but some could also be Fruhburgunder. There’s a wide variation in cropping levels and ripening stage. Soils here are schist, and some of the vineyards are very steep. They are all on hills.
