Sifnos, the gastronomic Greek island (6) Vahti Bay and Tsikali; Keremos and Paralia Beach Bar and Agyris
The next day’s lunch was a step up from the previous day. Staying in Vahti Bay, we headed to the other side of the bay and lunched at Tsikali, another beachfront taverna. Beautiful aubergine and sifnos chickpea stew were the highlights. Then another swim, and time to head back to Keremos.

Our final night on the island was spent back at the port of Keremos, which is OK, but not the highlight of Sifnos.

There’s a main drag here with quite a few restaurants, but at the other end of the long beach there’s a nice beach bar, Paralia. We spent a couple of hours here, and drank a bottle of this:
Thymiopoulis Atma White 2024 Naoussa, Greece
A blend of Malagousia (75%) and Xinamavro (25%). This is zesty, clean and bright with a touch of grapiness and some salty hints. Nice energy with a good combination of crispness and fruity pleasure. Inexpensive and really good. 91/100

For dinner we tried the nearby restaurant Agryis, sitting watching the sun set. This proved to be a good choice. Food was top notch, and they had a short but functional wine list.

We drank this:
Papagiannakos Savatiano Vareli Skin Contact 2023 Attica, Greece
Skin contact, then six months’ ageing in new French oak. This is really vibrant with a slight saltiness as well as pear, apple and some wood spice in the background. This works well: it’s sophisticated and gastronomic. 93/100
