Highlights: an amazing vinous cider from Little Pomona

I’m going slightly off-message and including a cider here. It’s from the excellent Little Pomona, and it was inspired by the wines of the Jura. It’s made from the Egremont Russet apple variety, wild-fermented in oak and flor-aged for three years. Superb.
Little Pomona Many Rivers Egremont Russet Flor Aged Yellow Cider 2022
7.7% alcohol. Egremont Russet, wild-fermented in oak and flor-aged for three years. Some ripe apple on the nose, but also crystalline citrus and a whiff of the seashore. In the mouth this has a lovely spicy, mineral savouriness. Vinous with some structure to the fruit. Very stylish and layered, with nice grip and a tangy, lemony twist. This is quite beautiful. 9/10 (£16 direct from producer)
