Highlights: Timo Meyer Gamay 2018 Yarra

I’m such a fan of Gamay, as regular readers will know. I even embarked on an ambitious series on Gamay on my old blog, and there I charted my attempts to try just about every Gamay in existence (a futile task, of course, but I managed to try quite a few). This one is a good-un from Yarra star Timo Meyer.

Timo Meyer Gamay 2018 Yarra Valley, Australia
This is rounded, smooth and textural with sweet, liqueur-like cherry fruit, and a delicate spicy framing. It’s ripe and rounded, with some warmth, but also a twist of sappy greenness adding freshness and interest. There’s a touch of olive and mint savouriness, too. Compelling Aussie expression of Gamay. 93/100
