Highlights: Reynvaan In The Rocks Syrah 2016 Walla Walla
Reynvaan Family Vineyards In The Rocks Syrah 2016 Walla Walla, Washington State
13.5% alcohol. This is so distinctive, and quite beautiful. It has a nose with some savoury iodine, blood, pepper and olive, as well as sweet red and black fruits. The palate is elegant and layered: it’s fresh and has some fine-grained structure, but also sweet cherry, strawberry and raspberry fruit with a prettiness to it, but also a savoury, peppery edge. Dried herbs and olives add interest: such a pretty, detailed wine, but also a fine expression of Syrah, showing amazing elegance. It’s a Burgundian expression of Syrah, albeit with some ripeness, too. In the same peer group as some of the world’s best expressions of this variety. 95/100
