Château Cavalier: rosés from Provence

Website: https://www.chateau-cavalier.com/en/

This is a property owned by Castel at the foot of the Massif des Maures in the heart of Provence. Farming is Terra Vitis certified sustainable. I tried four of their rosés, and was impressed by them: clever winemaking and packaging.

360 de Cavalier 2019 Côtes de Provence, France
12% alcohol. Very pale in colour, this is really bright and fresh with a touch of grapefruit, some fine spiciness and a touch of mandarin. Dry with nice primary fruit and lots of freshness. Delicious, focused and well made. 88/100

Château Cavalier Terre de Provence 2019 Côtes de Provence, France
12.5% alcohol. Very stylish with brisk, fresh, taut citrus fruit, a touch of strawberry and cherry, and nice fine spiciness. This has a bit of depth and texture, but it’s also very bright with a fine spicy finish and a touch of crystalline grapefruit. This is a lovely wine. 90/100

Château Cavalier Cuvée Marafiance 2019 Côtes de Provence, France
13% alcohol. This is bright and focused with nice freshness. There’s tangerine and red cherry with a bit of spice and some fine herbs. Dry with keen acidity and a touch of watermelon and pear on the finish. Quite primary. 88/100

Château Cavalier Grand Cavalier 2019 Côtes de Provence, France
13% alcohol. This is a very stylish, bright, textural rosé with notes of mandarin and watermelon, a bit of pear, and a juicy finish. This has a lovely broad mid-palate with nice bright fruit to the fore. There’s also a slight salinity and minerality, which is really appealing. Long finish. 91/100
