I have no idea how Aldi can sell an organic wine for £4.99. Especially when it tastes really good. And although I have doubts about whether this is a good thing for wine generally, if you are on a budget and want something good to drink, then this is great news. It’s a really well balanced, drinkable red, with no winemaking artefacts, and it’s great that the environment isn’t picking up the tab. I don’t think this will last long (available online at Aldi’s website).
Toro Loco Superior Orgánico 2018 Utiel-Requena, Spain
This is a blend of 70% Bobal, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. This medium-bodied red wine has lovely supple, bright cherry and berry fruits, with a sense of freshness and massive drinkability. As well as the pure fruit, there’s a bit of spicy warmth, too. Delicious stuff. 87/100
