Highlights: Dr. Edge Pinot Noir 2017, Tasmania

Dr. Edge is the personal wine project of Peter Dredge, the head winemaker of Meadowbank. This is a blend of several Tasmanian Pinots that he makes, with fruit coming 60% from the Derwent Valley, 30% from the East Coast, and 10% off the Tamar Valley, weighted to Northern Tazzie. This light, pure, and ethereal pinot is still very much rooted in authenticity, with an herbal, green, sapid edge shaping the svelte raspberry, wild strawberry, wildflowers, pink peppercorns that run the long, sleek palate. The finish hums with salinity, and acidity is lofted. Clones MV6 and 115 were native fermented with 2 weeks on skins, some whole bunch / carbonic, then pressed to oak casks where it remained for 9 months prior to bottling, without fining. Such a characterful charmer now, and with time ahead. 93/100
