Highlights: Calco Chardonnay 2018 Limarí, Chile

Calco Chardonnay 2018 Limarí, Chile
13.5% alcohol. From De Martino in collaboration with Ben Henshaw and Alvaro Ribalta of Indigo Wines (the collaboration is part of Triangle Wines, and also has a couple of wines from Argentina in the range), this is grown on clay/limestone soils, which are rare in Chile, and is aged for 12 months in used oak. It’s concentrated but very fresh and linear with precise chalky, mineral focus to the citrus and pear fruit. There’s no noticeable oak, and the palate has a fresh, linear, mineral tone. Think Chablis with a Chilean twist. Very refined. 92/100
