Westwell Wicken Foy NV England
Picked between 15th & 24th October 2019 at 17.5 Brix, 12.5 TA. Blended May 2020. 40% Pinot Noir, 35% Pinot Meunier and 25% Chardonnay plus reserve wines from 2014-2018 which make up 20% of the blend. Disgorged March 2022, with a dosage of 8.5g/l. This is really refined. There’s a core of bright citrus fruit, but it’s joined by some richer toast and honey notes, and fine spices, as well as a twist of cherry. The reserve wines seem to be making their mark here, adding some richness to the citrus core. Very impressive, with a nice hint of sweetness on the finish. Suggested food match is oysters and monster munch. 93/100 (£27.50 direct and from independent retailers)
