Highlights: Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste 1996 Pauillac, Bordeaux

Grand-Puy-Lacoste was ranked as a fifth growth in the 1855 classification, but if the rankings were decided today it would surely be ranked higher. Had this the other night off the list at Noble Rot Mayfair, and it was sensational.

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste 1996 Pauillac, Bordeaux
Fine, fresh and aromatic, with notes of tar, dried herbs, blackcurrant and black cherries with some redcurrant and herbs in the mix too. Focused fruit, supple and expressive with plums, cherry, spice and earth. Drinking really well now but no hurry to drink up. 96/100
