Highlights: Testalonga El Bandito Lords of Dogtown 2022 Swartland, South Africa

This is a rare Chenin Blanc from Testalonga, one of the leading natural wineries in South Africa’s Swartland. It’s from 13 rows of Chenin Blanc planted in 1981 near Adi Badenhorst’s property, and it’s a single 500 litre old barrel, made with no added sulfites.

12% alcohol. Naturally made Chenin, fermented in lold oak. Fresh, supple, slightly stony, but with lovely layered citrus and pear fruit, with a hint of apricot and melon, and a chalky, mineral edge. Very fine grained, light and transparent – almost weightless in the mouth, with a trace of salinity. Such finesse here. 94/100
