Champagne Laherte Frères Ultratradition Extra Brut NV France
12.5% alcohol. This is a blend of fruit from 8 villages in the south of Epernay and the Marne valley, and its 60% Pinot Meunier, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Noir with 40% reserve wines. Fermentation is in a mix of tank and oak (of different sizes). This was disgorged in July 2022 with a dosage of 4.5 g/litre, so I’m guessing the base wine is 2020 as they normally do just two years on lees for this cuvée. Fruity and expressive with mandarin, marmalade, pear and lemon. Fruity and bright with subtle toast and some bright appley notes. Juicy and bright with complexity and depth. Rich style, but with mineral detail. 93/100 (£60 The Good Wine Shop, this was from the Kew branch)
