Highlights: MMAD Grenache 2022 Blewitt Springs, McLaren Vale
Tried this wine with a few wine folk after dinner last night and was really impressed. From the Shaw & Smith stable, it’s an old vine Grenache from vines planted in 1939 on sandy soils in the Blewitt Springs sub-district of McLaren Vale. They bought the 3 hectare vineyard in 2021, and still sell some of the grapes. Retail in Australia is A$75 or thereabouts.

Beautifully floral and aromatic with red cherries, plums and a hint of pepper. Lovely palate with fluid red cherry and redcurrant fruit and amazing texture and freshness. Sweetly fruited with great balance. Fine grained structure. 95/100
