Thillardon Vibrations Chénas 2021 Beaujolais, France
11.5% alcohol. This was bought after a long lunch at the excellent Soif, and then drunk a few weeks later. It’s a naturally made Beaujolais from a cooler vintage. Very pale in colour, this takes the infusion approach to an extreme. Initially a bit wild and reductive on the nose, it opens out nicely to reveal elegant red cherry fruit, wild strawberry and some sappy green notes. Energetic with a bit of dissolved carbon dioxide, it’s light and ethereal with some nice crunch and amazing drinkability and poise. 94/100
