Highlight: the stunning first edition of Perpetual from English fizz star Langham
Langham Perpetual Chardonnay First Edition NV Dorset, England
12% alcohol. The best wines from 2017, 2018 and 2019 blended together, and disgorged with a dosage of 1.5 g/l. This has a complex nose of toast, nuts, wax and lemons. It’s complex, inviting and refined. The palate is concentrated, bold and intense with good acidity and then a wall of sophisticated flavour, with lime, pear, green apple, honey and almond. It’s fresh and structured with a sense of harmony, and then this long citrussy, saline finish. This is quite brilliant, and despite the punchy price, it really delivers. 96/100
