Impressed by this Barossa Grenache. It’s a variety that a lot of people are doing very good work with in South Australia, notably in McLaren Vale but also the Barossa.
Yalumba Samuel’s Collection Bush Vine Grenache 2022 Barossa, Australia
14.5% alcohol. Beguiling aromatics of sweet cherry and raspberry fruit with hints of ginger and pepper. The palate is rich but silky and elegant with a fine spicy thread running through the red berry fruits. It’s warm, smooth, rich, silky and satisfying. There’s some density here, but it also has elegance. Quite lovely. 94/100 (A$28 in Australia; in the UK c £17 at Loki Wine, Flagship Wines, Vinello, Amathus, London End Wines and others)
