Highlights: Sandrine Henriot Régnié Lachat 2022 Beaujolais, France

Sandrine Henriot purchased vines and established her own domaine in Régnié-Durette after several years working for fancy Bourgogne domaines. She now has 3.3 hectares of vines, which she took over from a retiring vigneron. The estate is certified biodynamic, and has vines in three different appellations: Morgon, Régnié and Beaujolais-Villages. Vinification is carbonic maceration for 7-10 days then the wine is pressed to vat to continue fermentation and age.

13% alcohol. This is a very bright, assertive wine with fresh raspberry and cherry fruit, with good acidity and some brisk tannins. There’s a savoury, slightly reductive, spicy edge to the fruit, and a tangy finish. This is definitely a gastronomic expression of Gamay, with tartness and a bit of grunt, but I really like it. Natural, firm and a little wild, but delicious. 92/100
