The wines of Weingut Kurz, Weinviertel, Austria
Website: https://www.weingutkurz.at/
Eric Kurz (pictured above) is the third generation in this family winery, and makes 80% white wines and 20% red, working alongside his parents Paul and Erika. Grüner Veltliner is the main variety here. They are based in the centre of the region. I tasted with Eric at VieVinum in May 2026.

Kurz Grüner Veltliner Ried Hungherm Reserve 2022 Weinviertel, Austria
14% alcohol. Aged in new French oak for 18 months. Full yellow in colour, this is bold and rich with notes of melon, pear and peach. Nicely intense with good weight. Low-ish acidity, with notes of honey and toast in the mix. Bold style. 91/100
Kurz Roesler Ried Edelsbergen Weinviertel, Austria
14% alcohol. There are just 400 hectares of Roesler (a red grape) in Austria, and this is a blend of 2023 and 2024 aged in American oak. Deeply coloured, this is bold, rich, spicy and dense with vivid spicy notes alongside the sweet black fruits. Satisfyingly broad. 90/100
