Four lovely wines at Noble Rot Mayfair: Langham, Phelan Farms, Sclavos and Suertes del Marques
Popped into Noble Rot Mayfair early evening yesterday and what was initially going to be just a shared bottle ended up being four shared bottles. Such good wines.
Langham Culver Classic NV Dorset, England
12% alcohol. 86% from 2022, 14% reserve wine. 45% Pinot Meunier, 43% Pinot Noir, 12% Chardonnay. Just shy of two years on lees and bottled with a dosage of 1.5 g/litre. Salty and mineral with pear and peach as well as crystalline citrus fruit and some ripe cherry. Such precision here. Rich but with focus. So delicious. 93/100

Sclavos Vino Di Sasso Robola of Cephalonia 2024 Greece
13% alcohol. Complex, textured and mineral. Bold pear and citrus with some apple and a nice saltiness as well as some wax. Subtle oily characters too. So lovely. 94/100

Phelan Farms Pinot Noir 2024 SLO Coast, California
12.5% alcohol. From Raj Parr in Cambria. 100% whole cluster, matured in used oak. Textural and really fine with red cherries, black cherries and spice. Nicely structured with amazing floral aromatics and then wild strawberry, spice, nice tannins and sappy, grainy detail. This is quite special. 96/100

Suertes de Marqués 7 Fuentes Listán Negro 2021 Valle de la Orotava, Tenerife
From 25 parcels around Orotava. Fine reductive hints with cranberry and raspberry as well as sweet strawberry notes. Juicy and focused with lovely tension and elegance, such focus. Grown up and profound. 95/100
