Highlights: Renyiyuan Tao Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 Ningxia, China

This is one of the best Chinese wines I’ve tasted. It’s from Renyiyuan Vineyard, which was established in 2010 in the Jinshan sub-region of the eastern foothills of the Helan Mountain in the Ningxia region. It’s bold and rich but perfectly balanced. It won best overall red wine in the 2025 edition of the Wynn Signature Chinese Wine Awards that I judged in last year.

Renyiyuan Tao Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 Ninxia, China
15% alcohol. Lovely aromatics of brooding blackcurrant fruit with some sweet cherry and fine spices. In the mouth this is dense and structured with great concentration to the cherry and blackcurrant fruit, showing fruit sweetness but also firm tannins. It’s primary and intense with a long future ahead of it. Really good. 95/100
