Highlights: G de Château Guiraud Bordeaux Blanc Sec 2016

G de Château Guiraud Bordeaux Blanc Sec 2016 France
13.5% alcohol. Organic farming, with some limestone in the clay/gravel soils. This is a dry white made by Sauternes producer Château Guiraud. It’s a blend of 50% Semillon and 50% Sauvignon Blanc, 80% of which has been fermented in barrels previously used for Sauternes, and 20% in stainless steel. The result is a complex wine that’s rich but also chiselled, with good acidity under the compact citrus fruit with a touch of conference pear and white peach richness, as well as some honey and apricot notes in the background. A really lovely wine, and a bit of a bargain too in the mid-teens. 93/100
