I bumped into this grower Champagne, Gérmar Breton, previously unknown to me, at the Mampuku restaurant in Bordeaux. It was impressive enough for me to want to write about it.

Gérmar Breton are a grower Champagne (RM) in the Côtes de Bar in the south of the region, and they have 7 hectares of vines spread over four communes. 65% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir (5 of which is red wine), fermented in stainless steel. Dosage is 8 g/litre. Very crisp and taut with a nice savoury edge to the tight citrus and red currant fruit. Very pure and refined. Elegant and focused. 92/100
