London restaurants: Elliot’s, Borough Market
I really like restaurants like Elliot’s. Really solid, well cooked food, made from good ingredients, together with a cracking wine list.

Elliot’s was established in 2011 by Aussie chef Brett Redman, and it describes its offerings as ‘seasonal wood-fired cooking’. It’s so well done, and takes inspiration from its setting in Borough market, surrounded by high-end suppliers.

The wine list is all natural. That makes me happy, but it may put a few off. Isabelle Legeron, natural wine guru, helps compile the list, and I think it’s a really good one. They also act as a bottle shop for a selection of these wines, which is worth bearing in mind (some are hard to get in retail).

We lunched well and drank two very good bottles of wine. The bill wasn’t crazy, and we left happy.
