Restaurants: Pizzaro, Bermondsey
José Pizzaro has four restaurants now, two of which are on Bermondsey Street – Pizarro the restaurant, and Pizarro the no-reservation tapas bar. Quite early post-lockdown I had a lovely dinner at the restaurant. The food is brilliant here: really good ingredients, good cooking. The wine list is slightly underwhelming – the ‘new’ Spanish wines aren’t really well represented here, but asking if there was anything off the list, I found a lovely wine natural wine from Pepe Raventos, the Can Sumoi. The second wine of the evening was a Pinot Noir from Costers del Segre, which was good but not great. The food, though – this is so, so good.
