Highlights: Suertes del Marques 7 Fuentes 2016 Tenerife

Suertes del Marques 7 Fuentes 2016 Orotava, Teneferife, Spain
13% alcohol. A wine I bought a while back, this is a blend of 100 year old and young ungrafted vines from six different vineyards. It’s 90% Listan Negro and 10% Tintilla, 60% aged in concrete, 40% in 500 litre barrels. Pale cherry red in colour this has an amazing aroma of pepper (both white and black) and red fruits, with some sappy green notes. A rotundone bomb. The palate is supremely elegant, with fine red cherry notes, a rounded, silky texture, and some peppery brightness. Notes of dried herbs, too. Sweetly fruited and a bit sappy, it’s astonishingly drinkable and elegant. 94/100
