Highlights: Anne et Jean-François Ganevat Kopin 2018 France

Ganevat is one of my favourite producers, and this is one of their negociant wines – an interesting blend combining Chardonnay from limestone soils with Riesling from granite. The label is by the brilliant Michel Tolmer of Mimi, Fifi and Glouglou.

Anne et Jean-François Ganevat Kopin 2018 France
12.5% alcohol. This Ganevat negociant wine is a blend of Chardonnay from Jura and the Maconnais, with 30% Riesling from Alsace (granitic soils). No added sulphites. This is beautiful. It’s so fresh and vital with lovely lemony fruit at the front end, with some peach and melon richness around the fringes. Then there’s a huge wave of minerality, with a fine spiciness, and vivid citrus fruit. Finally, we get this lovely salinity: briny and long, with an almost electric energy. This is a very acidic wine, but the acid integrates really beautifully. Quite profound. 95/100
