A nice one-off made from a rare gris mutation of Carignan by Katie Jones.

Domaine Jones On the QT Carignan Gris 2019 Vin de France
12% alcohol. This is a small batch (695 bottles) of wine from a rare gris mutant of Carignan. It’s stainless steel fermented. There’s a slight white pepper and smoke edge to the citrus fruit nose, and on the palate there’s a lovely texture. It has good acidity, but it’s well integrated, with some mandarin and pear notes on the palate, and a subtle herbal quality. Very pure and fine, with some interest. A really elegant warm-climate white. 92/100 (£17.99 Waitrose)
