Highlights: Champagne Robert Moncuit Blanc de Blancs Le Mesnil Sur Oger Grand Cru 2012

Moncuit farm without herbicides and pesticides, and are organic but not certified. The base wine for this vintage 2012 is fermented in old barrels, and after five years ageing on lees and then another two and a half in bottle, this is drinking very well indeed. It’s a Champagne that balanced precision with some richer notes.

Champagne Robert Moncuit Blanc de Blancs Le Mesnil Sur Oger Grand Cru 2012 France
12.5% alcohol. Old vines. Disgorged May 2017, dosage 3 g/litre. This is lovely. Complex, walking a perfect line between freshness and richness, with some lemony precision and notes of toast and hazelnut and spice. It’s concentrated and quite crystalline with lovely acidity, some chalky minerality. Really full flavoured, but with vitality and freshness. This is quite lovely. 94/100
