13% alcohol. This is the special Azores variety named Arinto that’s different from the mainland Portuguese one, and it is from two vineyards. One is on volcanic ash of Capelinhos, and the other is an Atlantic-influenced site on the basaltic mantle of Criação Velha. The resulting wine is precise and pure with good concentration of taut citrus fruit, with lovely minerality and transparency. It’s saline and focused with just a hint of nectarine and pear. Very fine with a great acid line. 94/100
